Hi! I'm Krystal, a psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Growing up, I cared deeply about helping people feel their best, and over the past nearly 20 years I have been dedicated to this mission. I started Attuned Psychological Services after serving some of the community's most vulnerable populations through non-profit and volunteer efforts. I aim to be attuned to others in my roles as mother, partner, therapist and friend. This means making myself wholly present with the other person for the purpose of sensing and responding to their needs moment-to-moment.
I believe you are the expert on you, and I observe my role as a guide who can share knowledge and tools to help you safely overcome obstacles to achieving your therapeutic goals. It is a tremendous privilege to journey with others through personal struggles, share meaningful connection, and witness the wonder of resilience.
I invite you to connect when you are ready to book your first session or a 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. I am committed to responding within two business days.
Here's a quick glimpse into my clinical background:
I completed my Bachelor and Master degrees in psychology and counselling while working in the hospitality and oilfield industries. I have worked on crisis lines, in emergency shelters, in an adolescent treatment centre and in a community counselling centre serving individuals, couples and families across the lifespan. I have completed a host of trainings and received certifications for working with couples, treating mood disorders and working with trauma. For example, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT), Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. I have a successful history helping people cope with difficulties like anxiety, depression, grief/loss, interpersonal challenges, trauma, and other emotional disturbances. My clinical leanings are experiential and include multicultural, trauma-sensitive, attachment-based, and compassion-oriented approaches to therapy.
My research on clinical intuition, ethics, and humanistic counselling has been published and presented internationally, in collaboration with Dr. Toupey Luft. Check out the research here:

At different times, we may have student interns or other psychologists from varied backgrounds facilitate group therapies.
We work with other professionals by providing referrals to appropriate practitioners and regularly consulting a group of experienced psychologists about relevant ethical issues.
Welcome to Attuned.
